Allen Oba Studios is here to help document your wedding photography and videography. Our aim is to also provide you with valuable tips that will help make your wedding less stressful and memorable. Below, you’ll find some helpful tips to assist you in buying the perfect wedding ring which you’ll cherish for a lifetime.
1. Have a budget for your wedding
Nothing beats having a budget when it comes to your wedding rings, especially because you still want to have enough finances for the wedding itself as well as other expenses. And quite frankly, you also want to have money even after the wedding to start your lives together. So set a budget and stick to it.
How much are you willing to spend on a ring? Figure out together if you want to use payment plans to purchase the ring, i.e. to finance it or buy it outrightly.
The next thing to do will be to start saving early enough for the ring so that you don’t blow cash that isn’t well planned for. If it’ll help, create a separate budget sheet for the ring and start building out the saving fund.
2. Research
Next is to actually do your research on which type of ring you’d want to buy. At this stage, you can do your research on the internet so that you don’t feel stressed with having to go into brick and mortar stores. Discover your style of ring and ensure that it matches your lifestyle or personality.
This is also a great way to figure out what jewelry store you best prefer, their pricing and whether it aligns with your budget. Do you want white or yellow gold? Doing proper research will save you so much time later! Just having you read this article shows that you are on a good path to researching and it will save you lots of unnecessary expenses in the long run.
Search for reputable jewelry stores around you to get a sense of your style. Narrow down your choice to around 2 to 4 reputable jewelry vendors and be sure to look up their reviews as well as this helps you know their level of trust within the community. Once you’ve made a decision, you’d have saved up time of visiting a number of stores. You can then pay a visit to your top selections to see the rings in person.
3. Start your search early and together if possible
Start your search at least two to three months before the wedding date to ring shop. You’ll need this time to browse, research prices and revisit rings that pick your interest. If you are going to go with a custom ring, this might require some time as well. Besides, starting early saves you some emergency costs down the line.
It is also a good idea to go through the ring buying process together since it’s a good way to do something together while spending quality time. It’s something you can both laugh about together in the future.
4. Be practical
You need to stay true yourself and understand what your choices and lifestyle involve. You’d be wearing this wedding ring in and out so you need to be sure that your selection of style is comfortable and practical. Something that will be somewhat timeless and go with your personality. Will you be comfortable wearing it regularly? What are your styles?
If you don’t have the same preferences then you might have to meet each other in the middle. Some couples decide to mix up their metals.
5. Confirm the right size for the wedding ring
Many people wear their wedding bands for all season and occasions. Summer. Winter. When exercising, etc. To find the right size, schedule your sizing at a time when your body temperature is normal. From research, you aren’t expected to finalize your fitting early in the morning, after you’ve exercised or when you are extremely cold or hot.
One easy way to determine the size of a wedding band is to match the size of your engagement ring or another previous ring in your collection. Also, now is a good time to speak with a representative at the jewelry store who can advise and guide you based on their experience. Trust us, they’ll be willing to assist you.
6. Check for Quality
Generally speaking, the ring should have two marks inside the band which include the manufacturer’s trademark and the quality mark (24K or PLAT for example). This shows that the manufacturer approves the quality of the jewelry.
It’s always a good idea to buy a piece of jewelry that is of good quality since you’ll both be wearing these for a long time to come. In a wedding band, much of what you’re paying for is craftsmanship and style. The way the band is formed and how the stones are set generally impacts the ring’s beauty and quality.
Finally, consider how easy it will be to maintain the wedding ring. Will there be regular cleaning required or is it something you can do on your own? Some jewelry vendors provide such services that you can discuss on.
Working towards getting your perfect wedding ring will be a memorable time in your lives and it shouldn’t feel time consuming., Hopefully, these tips will give you the right direction in planning for your lives together!
